How Much Do Your Problems Cost You? Jerry Fetta

We all have problems, right? If we didn’t have problems we would all be living a life by design right now and there would be no work left to do. A myth is that when we become wealthy our problems go away. The truth is, the wealthy still have problems and those problems are usually just different and usually bigger. The poor also have problems. Their problems are different and often smaller. Now I’m not here to make anyone wrong or discount anyone’s problems. I am here to increase everyone’s level of capability. To not solve a problem says nothing about the problem and says everything about how we view ourselves. To not solve a problem reveals that a person does not deem themselves capable and has therefore quit on a solution. So the question remains, how much are your problems costing you?

What is a problem? Problem, at its root literally means “thing put forward”. So a problem is a thing that is put forward ahead of other things. What does this tell us? A problem is relative.

A problem is relative. A problem only is only viewed as a problem in relation to another thing that is not viewed as a problem. So is a problem really a problem? Nope. It’s just different that the things we are used to. It sticks out. Because it’s different we deem it to be a problem.

A problem is simply an opinion. If we’re walking through the woods and we see a cave we are probably both going to have different opinions of the cave. I might see the cave as dangerous and unknown and therefore, a problem. You might see the cave as an opportunity that may have buried treasure inside and therefore an opportunity. Neither of us are right or wrong. We just have different opinions. I would venture to say that your opinion serves you better than my opinion serves me. Even if there is a bear inside the cave and we could get attacked, the fact that I’ve already quit on an imagined scenario that has no factual proof of true existence is evidence that my mindset is what causes this to be a problem.

Problems have a cost no matter what. If you don’t solve your problems, it costs you something. If you do solve your problems, it costs you something. On the flip side, all problems also have a result no matter what. If you don’t solve your problems it causes a result. If you do solve your problem it causes a result. Lastly, it takes effort no matter what. If you do not solve your problems you will do something that causes your problem not be solved. This requires effort. If you do solve your problem you will do something that causes your problem to be solved.

So here is the magic question: What problems are sticking out in your life right now that are preventing you from being wealthy? What is it costing you not to solve those problems? What result are your causing by not solving those problems? What effort does it require you to not solve your problems?
