Yesterday I wrote about the 5 ways to get out of financial danger. We defined danger as: “someone having mastery over another individual or group, therefore having the power to harm that person or group.” Danger isn’t a conceptual thing, it is actually a person, thing, or group that gains power & mastery over another with the intention of harm. Financially, there are 3 main groups that have power & mastery over you with the intention of harm. Those 3 groups are Banks, Wall Street, and Financial Advisors.
In the last edition (click here to read part 1), we discussed the first 2 of the 5 ways we can respond to danger. The first way is to flee; to run away from the problem. The second way is to avoid; to try to achieve results without addressing the root problem.
Today we discuss the next 2 ways we can handle danger. Ways 3 & 4although options, do not handle the issue.
3. Neglect. We can just pretend nothing is wrong at all. Neglectors generally overcompensate by “focusing on the positive things” while never fixing the problem. Neglectors distract themselves with friends, family, events, activities, and material things. A neglector asks such questions as “why does everyone act like money is such a big deal anyway? I care more about (insert muse here) than money.” A neglector is in danger because they are financially at risk and will never confront it. The result? At some point, those they use as a muse will be responsible for taking care of their financial needs because the neglector refused to.
4. Succumb. This basically means to quit. To give in. To agree with an individual’s own financial demise. You’ve met this person. They think it’s a joke that they’re bankrupt, or in massive debt, or that their kids will have to care for them because they’re broke. They own it. The embody the stereotype of careless, irresponsible, broke person. In fact, that even begin doing things to WORSEN their own situation.
The common thread in both of these responses to financial danger is a lack of personal responsibility. At least with #1 and #2 (Free and Avoid) the individual is taking responsibility and doing something about it. It won’t work, but still it’s better than pretending like everything is peachy or quitting.
If you’re in financial neglect or financial succumb, at this point, there honestly is not much I can do for you. Why? Because you must decide to take responsibility first. Coaching will not help. A plan will not help. Accountability will not help. If the wellbeing of your own family and your own respect for yourself isn’t motivation to take responsibility for your financial mess, then nothing that anybody else says or does will help.
IF you’ve taken responsibility and YOU are ready to do the work I am happy to help. My coaching program Wealth DynamX University, will help you confront the financial mess you’ve created, take responsibility for it, create a plan, put you in an environment of accountability, and connect you with a community of big thinkers and big achievers so you can begin to grow. If you’re interested in that, click here. But know, this isn’t an easy fix. It will take work. I will help, but you will need to show up (which you haven’t been doing in life), work hard, and listen (your way got you where you are. It doesn’t work. We do it my way now).
Own Your Potential,
Jerry Fetta
Jerry Fetta believes everyone has the God-given right to own their potential. Most of us don’t because we spend 40 hours per week serving the 40 year to life sentence, trading our precious time for worthless paper called money.
We live on an economic planet and time and money do need to be exchanged. But it doesn’t need to be your time or your money. Jerry teaches his clients to secure income producing assets that make the time and money exchange for you so you can buy your freedom back and live a life of abundance and prosperity.
